About Kashia Knight

Black Woman Triad was created by Kashia Knight, a Black feminist researcher, writer, and public educator whose work centers Black girls, women, and gender-expansive people assigned female at birth.

Kashia’s research on intergenerational role compression, identity disruption and the expectations imposed on Black girls and women earned second place at North Carolina A&T State University’s 2026 Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. That award-winning research became part of the foundation for the Black Woman Lifespan Triad model and the continued development of Who Told You That?

Through the pioneering concepts of Intergenerational Role Compression, Intergenerational Identity Disruption, and Intergenerational Repair, Kashia examines how racialized and gendered expectations shape identity and relationships across Black girlhood, womanhood, and elderhood.

Her work creates language for what has been inherited, what must be questioned, what can be interrupted, and what future generations should no longer be required to carry.
